Saturday, May 30 - Habitat for Humanity of Montezuma County will host a volunteer builder training.
Individuals interested in learning construction basics will work on building an 8x10-foot shed. The completed shed will be auctioned, with the proceeds going toward the purchase of land for the first Montezuma County Habitat House.
The training will be conducted courtesy of Straight-Up Sheds of Dolores. The owners are donating their expertise and equipment, and will also donate delivery of the shed to the winning bidder. Materials are being provided at cost by Slavens.
Two training shifts are available: 8 a.m. to noon, and 1 p.m. to 5. To sign up, please contact Holly Tatnall or Karen Sheek at 565-2728, or the Habitat office at 565-9038. The number of participants is limited, so please sign up as soon as possible. Participants must be 18 years and older, and should bring safety glasses and work gloves and wear sunscreen and a hat.
